Wearable ED devices

Understanding TechRing data

The TechRing is a wearable device for erectile dysfunction that works as an erection ring during sex and measures your erections with built-in sensors.

FirmTech's TechRing records erection firmness, quality and duration during sex, and the count, strength and length of nighttime erections while you sleep. The free FirmTech app rolls those readings into an Erectile Fitness Score from 0 to 100 and shows which habits, such as sleep, drinks or exercise, move it.

What do wearable ED devices actually measure?

The TechRing measures how firm an erection is, its quality, and how long it lasts, plus how many erections happen overnight and how strong and long they are. FirmTech calls these the vital signs of every session. Until devices like this, measuring erections meant a sleep lab; the TechRing does it at home.

ReadingWhen it is measuredWhat it tells you
FirmnessDuring sexHow rigid the erection is, from the ring sensors
QualityDuring sexAn overall read of the session, shown in the app
DurationDuring sexHow long the erection lasted
Nighttime countOvernightHow many erections happened during sleep
Nighttime strength and lengthOvernightHow firm and how long each nighttime erection was

What is the Erectile Fitness Score?

The Erectile Fitness Score is a single number from 0 to 100 in the FirmTech app that rolls up every TechRing session and night, so you can see your trend at a glance rather than reading each session on its own. You can log sleep, alcohol, workouts and medication, including different doses, and the app shows which of those actually make a difference. FirmTech's science page lists sleep, alcohol, exercise, medication, stress, diet, smoking and heart health as examples of factors that can shift a score. The point is comparison: keep what helps, drop what does not, and watch whether the score responds over weeks.

Why do nighttime erections matter?

Nighttime erections happen without arousal, so they are a clean read of blood flow, nerves and hormones. FirmTech says healthy men have 3 to 5 a night during sleep. Because the arteries in the penis are smaller than those of the heart, FirmTech notes that changes in circulation often show up in erections first.

FirmTech points to research linking erectile function with heart health, including a 2026 paper in Urology on erectile dysfunction and coronary calcium scoring, and a multi-center study it lists comparing nighttime and during-sex rigidity with coronary atherosclerosis in men over 40.

How to get a useful reading

  1. Charge the TechRing with the included USB cable. A full charge takes 2 to 4 hours and lasts up to 12.
  2. Download the FirmTech app on iPhone or Android, turn on Bluetooth and pair the ring.
  3. Wear it during sex, or overnight for up to 12 hours.
  4. In the morning, hold the button for 3 seconds, put the ring on the charger, and connect in the app to sync.
  5. Log sleep, drinks, workouts and medication so the app can show what moves your score.
  6. Repeat. FirmTech suggests wearing it once a week; read weeks of nights as a trend, not one night alone.

The research behind the TechRing

Who sees your data?

FirmTech says TechRing data is stored securely, handled to HIPAA standards, and never sold or shared with advertisers. You decide whether a doctor can see it, and you can stop sharing at any time. You can delete your data and account from inside the app.

What the data cannot tell you

The TechRing gives you objective numbers to watch and share, but a reading is not a diagnosis. If your numbers or your erections change, take the data to a doctor. FirmTech's own advice is to talk to your doctor about your specific situation, especially when combining the ring with other treatments.

Common questions

What does the TechRing measure?

The TechRing measures erection firmness, quality and duration during sex, and the count, strength and length of nighttime erections while you sleep. The FirmTech app rolls these readings into one Erectile Fitness Score from 0 to 100, with insights on what affects it, such as sleep, drinks, workouts and medication.

What is the Erectile Fitness Score?

The Erectile Fitness Score is a single number from 0 to 100 in the FirmTech app that rolls up every TechRing session so you can see your trend at a glance. You can log sleep, drinks, workouts and medication, and the app shows which of those factors move your score up or down.

Why track nighttime erections?

Nighttime erections happen without arousal, so FirmTech treats them as a clean read of blood flow. Healthy men have 3 to 5 erections a night during sleep, according to FirmTech. Because penile arteries are smaller than the heart's, FirmTech notes that changes in circulation often show up there first.

How long does the TechRing battery last?

Up to 12 hours on a full charge, and a full charge takes 2 to 4 hours with the included USB charger. After a night of wear, hold the button for 3 seconds, put the ring on the charger, and connect to it in the app to sync the night's data.

Is my TechRing data private?

FirmTech says TechRing data is stored securely, handled to HIPAA standards, and never sold or shared with advertisers. You choose whether a doctor can see it and can stop sharing at any time. You can also delete your data and account from inside the app whenever you want.

Is the TechRing clinically studied?

FirmTech lists published research on the TechRing, including a 2025 paper on wearable penile devices in Translational Andrology and Urology. A clinical trial comparing the TechRing with RigiScan, the clinic standard, has 35 men enrolled. FirmTech reports more than 308,000 erections analyzed and more than 20 studies published or underway.

What is a wearable device for erectile dysfunction?

A wearable device for erectile dysfunction is something worn on the body, rather than a pill, that supports or measures erections. FirmTech's TechRing is one example: it works as a constriction ring during sex and uses built-in sensors to measure firmness, quality and duration, plus nighttime erections, with results shown in a phone app.
